Bio

Dr. Brett Ashley Kaplan聽directs the Initiative in Holocaust, Genocide, Memory Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she is a professor of Comparative and World Literature.

Widely published, her writing can be found in Haaretz,听The Conversation,听Salon.com,听AJS Perspectives,听Contemporary Literature,听Edge Effects, and the聽Jewish Review of Books. She has been interviewed on NPR, the AJS Podcast, and The 21st.

Her edited collection, Critical Memory Studies: New Approaches聽is forthcoming from Bloomsbury, and she is at work on a co-edited collection (with Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell and Sara Feldman) entitled聽Blewish: Contemporary Black-Jewish Voices. She is also conducting interviews for聽Fearless Louise, a co-written biography of Louise Fishman with Amy Powell, and working on a second novel, Vandervelde Downs, about the recovery of Nazi-looted objects found in a Vietnamese Refugee Center in provincial England.
